I mostly liked this book, I don't think that I really understood what Christians have gone through during the history of man, I'm not sure I have a complete grasp yet. I think I'll continue with the series after a short break.Product details

A fast-paced, heart-stopping page turner. From the first page you are thrust into a time long forgotten a time when persecution of the saints meant more than a volley of words or divergent beliefs, but real lives held in the grip of a society bent on violence. To place the conflict right in the heart of the Roman government where the choice to serve Christ had the greatest moral and physical risks is pure genius. Great read!

I'm extremely impressed. This is one of the best reads I've found for a long time and the author definutely earned a spot in my library. I'm a description nut, and Nathan has easily managed to keep my mind enthralled with the richness of his world. I love the Christian aspects of this work and highly suggest the read!
I really enjoyed this book. I have to say I'm not usually one who goes for any sort of ancient history book. This book however wasn't just a history book, it was a book filled with great description of not only physical battles but emotional battles as well. I don't konw if it was the smooth flow of Nathan's writing or the combination of showing both the tender romantic side of Antionius as well as the tough no one gets left behind side. But he had me rooting for him. I was on the edge of my seat through the battles and feeling warm and fuzzy with the hope of the romance. All in all this is a book for guys and girls alike. There is a little bit of something for everyone between the pages. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
A very good story packed with courage, pain, fear and love. A classic tale of treachery in the Roman Empire. You are transported through time and walk into the Colosseum itself!
I don't usually read historical fiction, but the author pulls his readers in with excellent character development, plot, action and emotion! I simply could not put this book down...
I would highly recommend this book to anyone, anytime... unless they have to be up early the next morning...
I've read all the books in this series and they are excellent books. Very exciting and fast paced. My oldest boy (which doesn't like to read )really loved these books. We are both awaiting more to come.
Loved this book! I really enjoy reading books on history and especially written in the Roman/Gladiator period. This book kept me interested, had twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat and actually made me feel like I was there. I can hardly wait for the second book to be released! This is definitely a recommendation from me! 5 stars!
